Šatkotásos is in the center of [[Thamonia]], inside of its [[Old Valley (Thamonia)|Old Valley]] region, along the country's longest river, the [[Masráw]].

Šatkotásos is in a semi-arid climate with hot summers and cold winters. Most of the city's water supply comes from the river Masráw.

The city averages ~32°C in the summer and ~-4°C in the winter, with annual precipitation averaging just 200 mm.

Šatkotásos, being in a central position, is the centerpiece to Thamonia's rail and road networks.

The city has put in policies to encourage car-free transportation, though is still fairly car-centric outside of the city center.

The city has a ring road around the city center at a distance of around 3-8 km, Thamonia National Road 0, which makes up the boundary of the city proper. The ring road provides access to National Road 4 (a north-south route) and National Road 5 (a route to [[East Thamonia]].)

A motorway through the center of the city was proposed in the 610s, but met intense pushback from the city's inhabitants.

The city has a comprehensive commuter rail network that serves all inner districts and most of the city's outskirts. There is regular intercity train service to all parts of Thamonia, including a high-speed line to Mastásos, at the mouth of the Masráw.

The city is served by Šátkos International Airport, with regular flights to most destinations on [[Reproka]]. It is also served by commuter rail to bring passengers into the city center quickly.
